In the midst of the war against Hamas, Israel attacked the 76-year-old Nuseirat refugee camp in Central Gaza. During this, a school was targeted. 32 people have died in this airstrike carried out by fighter jets. These include women and children.
At the same time, Hamas’s Al-Aqsa Media said that 39 people have lost their lives in the attack. Israel’s Defense Force IDF has confirmed this attack. IDF has claimed that fighters of Hamas’s Nukhba Force had taken refuge in this UNRWA school. Israel targeted them in the airstrike.
In fact, more than 1 million people have become homeless since the war between Israel and Hamas started. They have taken refuge in schools and hospitals at different places in Gaza. According to news agency AP, the Nuseirat refugee camp is located in the middle of the Gaza Strip. After the establishment of Israel in 1948, millions of Palestinians became homeless. Nuseirat camp was built to give them shelter.
Israel claims – tried to save civilians in the attack
IDF has claimed that complete planning was done for this before the attack on the school. During this, special attention was paid to the fact that the civilians present there should not suffer much harm. For this, aerial surveillance of the area was done. Along with this, information was also collected through Israel’s intelligence sources present there.
After the Israeli attack, the media office of the Hamas-led government in Gaza also issued a statement. He described the attack on the school as a massacre. Media office spokesman Ismail al-Thawbta said that the injured have been admitted to Al-Aqsa Martyr Hospital.
Israel has attacked Gaza’s schools before as well
In December last year too, Israel had carried out airstrikes on 2 schools in Gaza. In this, 50 people were killed, while hundreds were injured. From 7 October till now, Israel has attacked UNRWA premises 430 times.
According to Al Jazeera, in April also Israel attacked the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza. In this, 75 people were killed and 348 people were injured. Apart from this, more than 13 thousand temporary houses were destroyed in the Israeli attack.
