Tokyo: On January 28, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Edogawa Gandhi Park in Tokyo. He praised Japan as a leading nation in technology and emphasized the “deep” ties between India and Japan, which he believes have strengthened under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Yadav stated, “I have come to pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. The Global Investors’ Summit in Madhya Pradesh is set for February 24-25, with PM Modi inaugurating it. Japan ranks among the top countries in technology, and our relationship has deep historical roots, dating back to figures like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Swami Vivekananda. This is a source of pride for us.”

He urged for the enhancement of India-Japan relations, advocating for the establishment of new trade avenues. “The friendship has grown stronger since PM Modi’s government was formed, and we can collaborate on various fronts,” he added.

Yadav reflected on the bust of Gandhi he honored, which was inaugurated by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, expressing hope that Gandhi’s principles of non-violence resonate with Japan’s values rooted in Buddhism. He noted the potential for closer ties between the two nations and extended his best wishes, remembering Gandhi’s legacy of promoting non-violence globally.

During his four-day visit to Japan, CM Yadav was welcomed by India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, who discussed ways to enhance India-Japan relations and boost trade and economic collaboration between Madhya Pradesh and Japan.

Yadav also met with representatives from Toyota, inviting them to the upcoming Global Investors’ Summit 2025 in Bhopal. He explored investment opportunities with Toshiyuki Nakahara, General Manager at Toyota Motor Corporation, highlighting Madhya Pradesh’s advantages, such as ample land, a skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, and a burgeoning automobile sector.

Toyota representatives acknowledged Madhya Pradesh as a promising automobile manufacturing hub and expressed interest in exploring trade opportunities during the summit, while also mentioning their youth training initiatives in technical fields across India.
