Sydney: A man in Queensland, Australia, was hospitalized with serious injuries following a targeted shooting. According to Queensland Police, emergency services responded to a residence in Parkwood, about 65 kilometers southeast of Brisbane, around 7:50 p.m. on Thursday after reports of a man suffering gunshot wounds to his leg and injuries to his hand. The 21-year-old victim was found with severe injuries and was quickly taken to hospital in stable condition. Police stated that initial investigations suggest the shooting was targeted, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Authorities are continuing their probe and searching for the suspect.
In a separate case, authorities in New South Wales are investigating a fatal stabbing in a remote outback town near Sydney. Emergency crews responded to a welfare check at a home in Broken Hill, over 900 kilometers from Sydney, just after 11:50 p.m. on Thursday. At the scene, police found a man in his 40s with stab wounds to his neck. Despite prompt medical attention, he could not be saved and was declared dead. Police cordoned off the area and have launched an investigation into the man’s death, with assistance from the NSW Homicide Squad.
