Nikki Haley achieved her first victory during the 2024 campaign by defeating former President Donald Trump in the District of Columbia (D.C.) primary election held as part of the process of selecting the Republican candidate for the presidential election in America.
Haley’s victory on Sunday has temporarily halted Trump’s winning streak, but the former President is likely to get the support of a large number of delegates in this week’s ‘Super Tuesday’.
‘Super Tuesday’ is the day of the primary election process to select the US presidential candidates, when primary and caucus elections are held in most of the states.
Despite last week’s defeat in her home state of South Carolina, Haley said she would not drop her bid. DC. Republican Party officials declared Haley the winner on Sunday. Earlier, Trump had won the caucuses in Idaho and Missouri on Saturday and received everyone’s support at the Republican Party convention in Michigan.
