Pakistan: Tourist from Punjab torched to death by angry mob in Swat, desecration of Quran suspected

Islamabad: On Thursday, an angry mob in Pakistan burnt a man alive allegedly for insulting the Quran. According to the Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the incident took place in Madyan area of ​​Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to local police, 8 people were injured in this violence.

Officials said that the name of the person killed was Mohammad Ismail, resident of Punjab province who had come to visit Madyan. Police said that on the complaint of the local people, the police had arrested him, but in the meantime, the news of the alleged insult of the Quran spread like fire in the entire area.

According to police officials, shortly after getting to know about the alleged desecration of Quran, the angry mob attacked the police station and dragged the suspect with them. During this, the mob vandalized the station and set it on fire.

Officials said that first the mob beat up Mohammad Ismail fiercely and made a video of it. The mob lynched him and After this, some people from the crowd brought flammable material with them and burnt him by pouring it on Ismail.

Ismail kept shouting that he did not do anything but the mob did not listen to him. The crowd did not leave the place until he died. After this, the crowd posted its video on social media and it went viral. Right now heavy security forces have been deployed in the entire area.
