New Delhi: Separatist Organisation founded by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has issued a serious threat to the Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma. The pro-Khalistani leader outfit uploaded a threatening video depicting the photo of Verma being riddled with bullets.
This new threat comes at a time when tensions are growing between India and Canada after allegations of Indian intelligence involvement in the murder of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar this year. Later the video also depicted a text that said, “Pro Khalistan Sikhs pledge to avenge the assassination of Nijjar.”
Tensions between India and Canada intensified when Earlier in the day, Canada alleged that the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats are ‘persons of interest’ in a matter related to an investigation in that country. India in return called the statement issues as “preposterous imputations”.
New Delhi asserted once again that the Trudeau government in Canada has “consciously provided” space to violent extremists and terrorists to harass, threaten and intimidate Indian diplomats and community leaders in Canada.
The MEA also said, “The aspersions cast on him (Verma) by the Government of Canada are ludicrous and deserve to be treated with contempt”
Hours after deciding to withdraw its High Commissioner and other “targeted diplomats” and officials from Canada, India on Monday expelled six Canadian diplomats. The reason cited behind withdrawing High Commissioner and other officials by India from Canada was Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s continued “hostility” towards the country.
