UK: Storm Bert has struck the UK, resulting in the deaths of three men and extensive flooding that has affected hundreds of homes. The fatalities occurred in road incidents linked to the storm in Hampshire, Lancashire, and Trefriw, North Wales, as reported by Xinhua on Sunday.
In South Wales, local authorities in Rhondda Cynon Taf declared a “major incident” due to significant flooding in the area. Natural Resources Wales issued severe flood warnings for the River Monnow at Forge Road, Osbaston, and Skenfrith, indicating a danger to life.
Currently, over 100 flood warnings and 200 flood alerts are in effect throughout the UK. Travel has been severely impacted, with about 200 flights canceled at Heathrow Airport on Sunday, and rail services disrupted across several routes. The National Rail has warned of ongoing severe weather affecting parts of England, Wales, and Scotland into Monday.
Additionally, Storm Bert has also caused severe flooding in Ireland, leaving tens of thousands of homes without power.
