Eight civilians were killed and 53 injured in an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) in Sudan’s capital Khartoum and El Fasher town in North Darfur state of western Sudan.
The Khartoum state health ministry said in a statement, ‘RSF militia continued attacks against civilians in the Karari area of Omdurman city north of Khartoum and the Sharq Alnil (East Nile) area east of Khartoum on Saturday, killing 4 civilians and injuring 43 others.’
According to the information, the injured were admitted to Al-No and Abu Said Hospital in Omdurman and El Ban Jadid Hospital in Sharq Alnil area for treatment.
Also on Saturday, the 6th Infantry Division of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) said in a statement that four civilians were killed and 10 others injured in RSF shelling on residential areas in El Fasher on Friday.
The RSF has not yet made any official statement on these incidents. Earlier in December, 20 civilians were killed and 17 others injured in attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on two displacement camps in Sudan’s El Fasher town, a local government official said on Saturday.
Ibrahim Khaitir, director general of the North Darfur state health department, said, “Last night (on Friday), RSF militia drones dropped four bombs on the Qaij Bena school, a camp hosting hundreds of displaced people in El Fasher, killing 19 civilians and wounding 16 others.”
He added, “This morning, the militia fired artillery shells on the Abu Shouk displacement camp, north of El Fasher, killing one civilian and wounding a girl.” The RSF has also not issued a statement on the attack on the Abu Zeriga area.
On December 4, the governor of Sudan’s Darfur region announced that 20 civilians were killed in an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in an area of Sudan’s North Darfur state.
Governor Minni Arko Minnawi said in a post on his Facebook page, ‘The RSF carried out a massacre in the Abu Zeriga area, south of El Fasher city, killing 20 civilians and wounding 20 others.’ Since May 10, 2024, fierce clashes between the SAF and the RSF have been going on in El Fasher.
According to the latest estimates of international organizations, approximately 29,683 people have lost their lives and more than 14 million people have been displaced since Sudan was hit by the conflict between the SAF and the RSF since mid-April 2023.
