Washington: US President Donald Trump called for Congress to pass a bill that would permanently ban and criminalize sex changes for children, emphasizing the importance of ending what he described as the “lie” that children could be trapped in the wrong body. In his address to a joint session of Congress, Trump criticized “wokeness,” calling it harmful and claiming that his administration had removed it from schools, the military, and society. He declared that service members should be fighters, not activists, and reiterated that “wokeness is trouble.”
Trump also urged Congress to fund the development of a state-of-the-art “golden dome missile defense shield” for the United States, citing its successful implementation in Israel and other countries. He emphasized that with the current technology, the U.S. should have this protection as well, and it would be made in the USA.
Additionally, Trump announced plans to revive the American shipping industry, including both commercial and military shipbuilding, and revealed that a new office of shipbuilding would be created within the White House, offering tax incentives to bring the industry back to the U.S.
Blaming the Biden administration for what he described as an economic catastrophe and inflation crisis, Trump asserted that the U.S. had faced the worst inflation in 47 years. He vowed to fight every day to reverse the economic damage and make America “affordable again.”
Trump also recalled the tragic deaths of 13 American service members in a suicide bombing at Kabul’s airport during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. He called the withdrawal “disastrous and incompetent,” referring to it as possibly the “most embarrassing moment” in U.S. history. Trump announced that the top terrorist responsible for the attack had been apprehended and would face justice in the U.S. He thanked the government of Pakistan for its assistance in capturing the terrorist and expressed condolences to the families affected by the bombing.
