UK Election Updates: Rishi Sunak concedes defeat as Labour Party secures majority number

On the other hand, Indian-origin Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party has so far won only 72 seats.

Securing a landslide mandate in the general elections, the Labour Party of UK has won the UK general election. The counting is not over yet but Labour Party has gained lead and secured the majority number.

The Labour Party has won 341 seats in the results of 488 seats out of 650. 326 seats are required in the Parliament to form a government. On the other hand, Indian-origin Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party has so far won only 72 seats.

Sunak won his seat in Richmond and Northallerton. Labour Party’s PM candidate Keir Starmer has also won London’s Holborn and St Pancras seat. After the results were announced, Rishi Sunak accepted defeat and apologized to the party. He also called Starmer, PM candidate of the labour party and congratulated him on the grand victory.

Earlier on Thursday, voting started at 7 am (11:30 am Indian time) at 40 thousand polling centers. The exit poll results came out shortly after the voting ended at 10 pm (2:30 am Indian time). In this, a crushing defeat of Indian-origin Sunak’s Conservative Party has been predicted.
