US conducts over 40 airstrikes on Yemen Houthis

Residents reported that the airstrikes on the Command Camp caused damage to nearby homes, buildings, and shops in the surrounding residential neighborhoods

Sanaa: The US military executed more than 40 airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, in the early hours of the morning, as reported by media outlets.

The strikes focused on several key locations, including Sanaa International Airport, the Command Camp, the Sarif area, and the Jarban site in the Sanhan district, as well as other sites in northern provinces, according to Houthi-run al-Masirah TV. One individual was reported injured.

Residents reported that the airstrikes on the Command Camp caused damage to nearby homes, buildings, and shops in the surrounding residential neighborhoods. These attacks came just hours after the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching two ballistic missile strikes targeting Ben Gurion Airport in central Israel and a military site south of Tel Aviv on Thursday afternoon.

This represented the most extensive air offensive by the US against the Houthis since the campaign began on March 15. Previous US airstrikes over the past two weeks had resulted in over 50 fatalities and numerous injuries.

Tensions between the Houthis and the US military intensified following recent airstrikes by Washington on Houthi-controlled regions in northern Yemen, which were prompted by Houthi threats to resume strikes on Israeli targets unless humanitarian assistance was permitted into Gaza.

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump indicated that US airstrikes against the Houthis would persist. The day before, the US military had already conducted several airstrikes on Sanaa, targeting known military sites.

According to al-Masirah TV, three strikes hit the Jarban area in Sanhan, while two targeted the al-Jumaymah region in Bani Hushaysh, northeast of Sanaa. Additionally, two airstrikes struck the al-Daylami air base in northern Sanaa. The strikes resulted in explosions, although there were no immediate reports of casualties.

These military operations are part of an ongoing campaign that began in mid-March against Houthi-controlled territories in northern Yemen. The Houthi group has pledged to continue targeting Israeli locations and vessels in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, framing their actions as a response to what they call “American aggression.”
