Washington: General Timothy Haugh, the head of the United States’ National Security Agency (NSA) and Cyber Command, has been removed from his position, as reported by The Washington Post, citing two current officials and one former official.
Alongside Haugh, his civilian deputy at the NSA, Wendy Noble, has also been ousted, according to the sources.
General Haugh had served as the head of U.S. Cyber Command and the director of the NSA since February 2024, while Wendy Noble held the position of the agency’s senior civilian leader.
Representative Jim Himes of Connecticut, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, expressed his concern in a statement, saying, “I am deeply disturbed by the decision to remove General Haugh as Director of the National Security Agency. I have known General Haugh to be an honest and forthright leader who followed the law and prioritized national security—qualities that may have contributed to his dismissal in this Administration.”
He added, “The Intelligence Committee and the American people deserve an immediate explanation for this decision, which ultimately compromises our safety.
