A video of Indian-origin New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani eating rice and dal with his hands is going viral.
US Republican MP Brandon Gill commented on this video. He wrote on Twitter, “Civilised people in America do not eat like this. If you cannot adopt Western culture, then go back to the Third World.”
Mamdani was talking about the Palestinian issue in the video. He said- When you grow up in a third world country, you understand the Palestinian struggle better.
Civilized people in America don’t eat like this.
If you refuse to adopt Western customs, go back to the Third World. https://t.co/TYQkcr0nFE

Users trolled Brendon Gill on social media
Zohran Mamdani’s video has sparked a debate on social media. Many users strongly objected to the comment of MP Brandon Gill and trolled him. One user said, “Do you also get offended when people eat with chopsticks in Asian restaurants?”
Another said, “How do you eat tacos, french fries and burgers? Do you eat chips with a fork?” A third user wrote, “You can’t criticise their policies, so you’re making personal attacks on their culture.”
Mamdani had said- billionaires increase inequality
Earlier on Sunday, Mamdani was surrounded by controversies due to one of his statements. He had said in an interview- Billionaires increase inequality, no one should be allowed to become a billionaire in the world.
“We shouldn’t have billionaires,” Mamdani said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.” “It’s not good to have so much money at a time when there is so much inequality. We need equality across the city, state and country.”
Mamdani said that he wants to increase taxes on New York’s richest people and big companies. He said, “I want to increase taxes on the richest people by 1% so that everyone’s life can be better, including taxpayers.”
At the same time, Mamdani was called a communist by President Donald Trump, which Mamdani denied. He said, “I am not a communist. Trump talks about my looks, voice and identity to divert attention from my work. I am fighting for the hardworking people who have been betrayed by Trump.”
