Interviews scrapped for Chandigarh Police recruitment; negative marking to be introduced | Read major Changes

Changes have been made to the recruitment rules for the Chandigarh Police, specifically regarding the recruitment of Group-C (Executive) male and female constables. Candidates will now be able to take the exam in three languages, and the written test will include negative marking. Notably, candidates will not have to undergo an interview process.

The final merit list will be based solely on the written examination and bonus marks. A notification regarding the ‘Constable Recruitment (Third Amendment) Rules, 2026’ has been issued for this purpose. Future recruitment drives will be conducted in accordance with the Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP) guidelines.

    100-Mark Multiple-Choice Exam

Selection for the posts of male and female constables (Executive) will involve a 100-mark written examination. Candidates will have the option to take the exam via a Computer-Based Test (CBT) or an OMR sheet-based test. All questions in the exam will be of the multiple-choice (MCQ) type.

    Negative Marking for Incorrect Answers

Candidates will receive 1 mark for a correct answer. However, 0.25 marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer, thereby eliminating the scope for guesswork. Previously, there was no negative marking.

Question Paper in Hindi, Punjabi, and English

For the convenience of candidates, the question paper will be available in three languages: Hindi, English, and Punjabi. Candidates must select their preferred language while filling out the online application form. Once selected, the language cannot be changed under any circumstances.

    Physical Test

Only candidates who qualify in the written examination will be shortlisted and called for the next stage—the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test.

    No-Interview Policy

In compliance with the Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP) guidelines of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), the interview stage has been completely eliminated from this recruitment process. This will eliminate any possibility of human interference or bias during recruitment.
