New Delhi: Iran and the US have been presented with a proposal to end the conflict, calling for a ceasefire to be implemented from Monday. According to sources, Pakistan has prepared this framework and shared it with both countries. It suggests an immediate ceasefire and then negotiations towards a permanent agreement.

Opening the Strait of Hormuz a key issue
This proposal includes reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz immediately after a ceasefire. Both sides may be given 15–20 days to finalize a comprehensive agreement, with final negotiations likely to take place in Islamabad.

Backchannel talks intensify
According to sources, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir has been in constant contact with US Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. However, no official response has yet been issued from the US and Iran.

Nuclear issue included in final agreement
A potential agreement could include sanctions relief and the release of frozen assets in exchange for Iran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons. Despite mediation by countries like Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt, Iran has not yet agreed to the proposal.
