Iranian diplomat says US still hasn’t apologized for attack on Iranian elementary school

New Delhi: Abdul Majid Hakim Elahi, Iran’s Supreme Leader’s representative and senior diplomat, said on Friday that the US has yet to apologize for the attack on an Iranian elementary school, which claimed the lives of 168 children. He said that the bodies of some of these children have not yet been found, preventing their parents from even visiting their graves to mourn.

Participating in the session “A Region in Flux: Who Will Shape the Middle East’s Future?” at the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi, Elahi appealed to the international community to condemn the attack and prevent such incidents from happening again.

Elahi said that the war is affecting people not only in Iran and the Middle East, but in many parts of the world. He said, “Our country is facing extremely complex circumstances and crises. People around the world are suffering due to the war started by some countries. They attacked Iran and targeted an elementary school on February 28th, killing 168 innocent children.”

He further stated that the bodies of some children have not yet been found, and their parents are constantly crying because they don’t even have a grave to pay tribute to their children.

Raised the issue of children killed in the school attack

More than 160 children were reportedly killed in the alleged attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab, Iran, on February 28th.

Elahi said that October marks the beginning of the new academic year in Iran, but the deaths of children in the attack have further exacerbated the families’ suffering. He alleged that the US has not yet apologized for the attack.

He claimed that the United Nations had sent an investigative committee to investigate the incident, and its report revealed that 125 children died in the attack.

The senior diplomat appealed to people around the world to condemn this tragedy, saying that such incidents should not happen again in Iran or any other country.

Statement also made on the health of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

Elahi also responded to speculation about the health of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. He said that Khamenei is completely healthy and is handling his work well.

He stated that the Iranian President had a seven-hour meeting with Khamenei last week. Furthermore, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament had also requested a meeting with him.

Elahi said that some of his friends had also met with Khamenei and expressed confidence in his health. He also claimed that Khamenei was present at his father’s funeral and joined demonstrations in Iran.

Palestinian Ambassador Questions Israel’s Action in Gaza

Palestinian Ambassador to India Abdullah Abu Shavesh also participated in the discussion. He described Israel’s military action in Gaza as “genocide” and alleged that the US is aiding Israel with weapons and political support.

Shavesh said that the Palestinian people never imagined they would face such an alleged genocide. He alleged that other countries supporting Israel with weapons are also responsible for this situation.

Referring to his eight years of work at the United Nations, he said that the US used its veto six times to obstruct efforts to stop the violence in Gaza.

He said, “This is not just human suffering. This is genocide. What has happened in Gaza is a clear example of genocide.”
