ISIS Recruitment Case: Zeeshan, who radicalized youth, arrested

Jodhpur: Zeeshan (19) was arrested by Andhra Pradesh police in Jodhpur. During interrogation, it was revealed that he recruited youth for ISIS. He was working under the instructions of his handler.

The accused tried to radicalize youth and connect them with the organization. He called for the implementation of Sharia law worldwide and sent inflammatory videos and content to support this.

Investigation into funding, online groups, and foreign connections

Investigating agencies suspect that he received funding for this work. He was the administrator of an online group called “BENX,” where he shared videos and voice notes related to radical ideas.

A mobile phone investigation revealed that he was trying to indoctrinate youth into terrorist ideology. He had been using social media, but after the arrest of an ISIS-linked suspect in Vijayawada, he deleted his data, which police recovered.

The investigation also suspects the role of handlers from countries like Syria and Iraq.

Interrogation underway, more arrests possible

After presenting the accused in court, the police took him to Andhra Pradesh by train on transit remand. He was interrogated throughout the night.

Police have seized the mobile phones and documents of those who came in contact with him and are monitoring his social media network. More arrests are possible in the coming days.

This case has also raised concerns about people operating locally without verification and the misuse of social media. Investigating agencies are also investigating whether a major terrorist plot was being hatched.
