ITBP to Procure Directly from Himachal Farmers

Shimla, March 31, 2026 – The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has announced a partnership with the Himachal Pradesh government to procure agricultural produce directly from local farmers, bypassing intermediaries. This initiative aims to strengthen the rural economy, ensure fair pricing for farmers and support sustainable sourcing for the paramilitary force.

Direct Procurement to Boost Farmers’ Income

Under the partnership, ITBP units stationed in Himachal Pradesh will purchase vegetables, fruits, and other essential crops directly from farmers’ cooperatives and local markets. By eliminating middlemen, farmers are expected to earn better margins on their produce, creating a positive ripple effect across rural communities.
