Jabalpur Sees Communal Tension, Over Dozen Detained: Police

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Communal tension broke out in the Sihora area of Jabalpur district, prompting swift police action and the detention of more than a dozen people on 20 February 2026, authorities said.

 Police Detain Suspects, Maintain Peace

Senior police officials confirmed that 12–15 persons were detained to prevent escalation of violence and restore normalcy. “We have taken action and are maintaining strict vigil,” said the Superintendent of Police (SP), adding that a thorough investigation is under way to determine the causes and elements involved.

Security forces were deployed across sensitive localities to ensure peace and prevent further clashes.

 Probe Underway, Normalcy Restored

Police said no major injuries or loss of life had been reported so far, and the situation was brought under control through preventive action, detentions and community engagement.

Officials are examining the trigger points that led to the unrest and are recording statements as part of standard procedures.
