Jagdeep Dhankhar admitted to AIIMS after fainting twice

New Delhi: Former Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday after fainting twice over the weekend, officials said. According to news agency PTI, 74-year-old Dhankhar experienced health issues on January 10, following which he was brought to AIIMS, where doctors decided to admit him for evaluation.

 “Two fainting fits” while going to the washroom

According to officials, Dhankhar suffered “two fainting fits” while going to the washroom on Saturday. Following this, he was advised to undergo medical examination.

An official told PTI, “Today he went to AIIMS for a routine check-up, but doctors advised him to be admitted.” Doctors are likely to conduct other necessary tests, including an MRI.

Has had health problems in the past, seen less in public events

It is noteworthy that Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President on July 21 last year, citing health reasons, which led to much speculation at the time. Since then, he has rarely been seen in public events. According to officials, he has felt unwell several times in recent months during events, including in the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala, and the national capital.

At present, no official statement has been issued by Dhankhar or his family regarding his current condition.
