Man kills wife, daughter in Jaipur; later says ‘mistake’

A shocking double-murder incident has emerged from the Dudu area of Jaipur rural district in Rajasthan, where a man allegedly killed his wife and eight-year-old daughter during the night following a domestic dispute. The accused later reportedly told police that he had made a “mistake,” triggering widespread shock and outrage in the region.

The brutal crime took place in Bichoon village of the Dudu area, where the accused lived with his family. Police have taken the accused into custody and launched a detailed investigation into the motive behind the killings.

Crime committed late at night on house terrace

According to police officials, the incident occurred around midnight when the accused allegedly attacked his wife while she was sleeping. He reportedly used a sharp weapon to slit her throat. When their eight-year-old daughter woke up during the attack, he allegedly strangled her to death.

The victims have been identified as Saroj Devi (35) and her daughter Vanshika (8). Both died on the spot due to the severe injuries inflicted during the attack.

Police believe the crime occurred after an argument between the couple escalated into violence.

Accused stayed with bodies for several hours

In a disturbing development, investigators said the accused did not flee the scene after committing the crime. Instead, he reportedly remained inside the house and sat near the bodies for several hours during the night.

Early the next morning, when villagers were passing by the house during their morning walk, the accused came out and allegedly told them that he had killed his wife and daughter. The stunned villagers immediately informed the police control room.

Police personnel from the local station reached the spot shortly after receiving the information.

    Financial stress and disputes suspected

Preliminary investigation suggests that financial stress and ongoing marital disputes may have played a role in the crime. Police said the accused was working in a private job and earning around ₹12,000 per month, and he had reportedly accumulated debt in recent months.

Local residents told investigators that the couple had been facing domestic disagreements for nearly two months prior to the incident. However, no one in the village expected the conflict to lead to such a tragic outcome.

Police are continuing to question the accused to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the double murder.

    Police investigation underway

After reaching the scene, police found the house covered with blood and the bodies lying inside. The victims were sent to the Dudu sub-district hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also called from Jaipur to collect evidence, including blood samples and the suspected murder weapon.

Officials said the accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway. Authorities are examining all aspects of the case, including the possibility of financial stress, domestic disputes, and other personal issues that may have triggered the violent act.

Village in shock after tragic incident

The gruesome incident has left residents of Bichoon village and nearby areas in shock. Neighbours and villagers described the family as quiet and said they never imagined such a tragedy could occur.

Police officials have urged people not to speculate about the motive until the investigation is complete. Meanwhile, the tragic deaths of the mother and child have sparked renewed discussion about domestic violence and mental stress within families.
