Jaipur Municipal Elections: 17 Wards See Direct Fights, 35 Face Triangular Contests; Toughest Battle in Ward 62

Jaipur: The electoral picture for the Jaipur Municipal Corporation elections has become clear after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations ended. A total of 723 candidates are now in the fray across 150 wards, with voting scheduled for September 11.

According to the District Election Branch, 17 wards will witness a direct contest between two candidates, while 35 wards have three candidates each, setting the stage for triangular battles.

    17 wards face direct contests

Following the rejection of nominations and subsequent withdrawals, only two candidates remain in each of the 17 wards.

    These include Wards 41, 42, 45, 49, 52, 53, 60, 83, 90, 91, 94, 122, 123, 129, 131, 142 and 150.

Voters in these wards will therefore see a straightforward head-to-head contest on September 11.

35 wards set for triangular battles

The electoral contest is more closely fought in 35 wards, where three candidates remain in the race.

With candidates from major political parties and other contestants in the fray, these wards could see closely fought battles, making voter preferences particularly important.

    Ward 62 has 13 candidates

The most crowded contest is in Ward 62, where 13 candidates remain in the race.

Three other wards also have a high number of contestants. Wards 16 and 130 have 11 candidates each, while Ward 132 has 10 candidates.

This makes these wards among the most closely watched constituencies in the Jaipur civic elections.

    Election symbols to be allotted

With the final list of candidates now in place, the Election Commission will allot election symbols to the 723 candidates.

Candidates belonging to the BJP, Congress and other recognised national and regional parties will contest on their respective party symbols, while independent and other candidates will be allotted symbols from the list finalised by the Election Commission.

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation elections will be held on September 11, when voters across all 150 wards will decide the outcome.
