Jaipur Police Bust Fake Transgender Extortion Gang; Eight Young Men Arrested

Jaipur, Rajasthan: A shocking police raid in Chitrakoot, Jaipur has uncovered a sophisticated identity fraud syndicate posing as transgender people to extort money from the public. What appeared to be a routine gathering of transgender individuals at a red light for blessings turned out to be an elaborate scam.

Fake Transgenders Caught in the Act

Of the nine people arrested, eight were young men disguised as transgender women, wearing saris and makeup. Only one member of the gang was a genuine transgender individual, Kinnar Mahi, who acted as their trainer and organizer. The imposters assumed names like Shaina, Rani, Chhoti, Ravi, Vrinda, Raunak, and Kori to carry out their operations.

    Training and Recruitment

Police investigations revealed that most of the eight imposters came from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, working as laborers before being recruited. Kinnar Mahi lured them into the gang with promises of high earnings and trained them at intersections on how to act and extort money from passersby.

DCP Hanuman Prasad said, “Kinnar Mahi used to assign recovery targets and took a commission from the daily earnings. The accused admitted they earned ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 per day, much higher than typical labor work, and had to give a portion to her.”

    Beyond Extortion

The gang was reportedly involved in a range of criminal activities beyond street extortion, including prostitution and threatening couples and families for money. Many members had deliberately kept their activities hidden from their families, fearing social backlash.

    Police Action

The Jaipur police have arrested all nine members of the gang, and further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the network. The raid has highlighted the rise of fake transgender extortion syndicates in Rajasthan and the need for public awareness about such scams.
