Jaishankar Says Lack of Understanding on India’s Cross-Border Terror Concerns Could Impact Ties

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has stated that India’s concerns regarding cross-border terrorism must be understood by its partners, especially the United States. He indicated that a lack of adequate understanding on this issue could impact relations between the two countries.

Speaking at an Asia Society event in New York, Jaishankar described cross-border terrorism as one of India’s key security concerns. He said that when a partner does not adequately understand or attach importance to an issue that is of vital importance to India, it can create difficulties in bilateral relations.

Jaishankar’s comments come at a time when India and the United States are engaged in discussions on a number of issues, including trade, tariff, and security concerns. He also mentioned the complexities of India-US trade talks.

India’s emphasis on advancing relations

Despite differences, Jaishankar said India wants to move its relations with the US “upward.” He said it is important to move the relationship forward by resolving existing issues between the two countries through dialogue.
