Jaishankar Slams West’s ‘Free Advice’, Rebukes Pakistan on Terror

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar sharply criticised Western nations for offering what he termed “free advice” on India’s military and strategic decisions, particularly regarding actions like Operation Sindoor. In comments made during his ongoing visit to Europe, the minister urged Western countries to instead focus on issues in their own regions rather than offering unsolicited recommendations to India.

Jaishankar’s remarks reflect India’s assertive diplomatic posture, signalling that New Delhi does not welcome external meddling in its sovereign choices, especially on sensitive security and defence matters.

Strong Message on Pakistan and State-Sponsored Terror

In the same address, Jaishankar rebuked Pakistan for what he described as long-standing support for terrorism and attempts to normalise state-sponsored terror activities. He noted that Pakistan’s policies including openly operating terror training camps set it apart from other neighbours and demand a calibrated Indian response.

The minister highlighted that those nations that support terrorism cannot expect goodwill and that India’s foreign policy reflects a firm stance against cross-border terror sponsorship.

India’s Strategic Diplomatic Messaging

Jaishankar’s comments come amid heightened geopolitical sensitivities, including debates over India’s military actions and Western reactions to them. By emphasizing self-determination in security affairs and publicly calling out Pakistan’s terror links, the minister aims to reframe international narratives around India’s defence and regional security policies.

He also underscored that while India engages constructively with most neighbours, the relationship with Pakistan remains an exception due to its historical conduct and policies.
