Jaishankar to Visit France, Luxembourg to Boost Strategic Ties

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will embark on a six-day official visit to France and Luxembourg from January 4 to January 10, aiming to strengthen India’s strategic and bilateral partnerships with both European nations. The visit was announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi.

Focus on India-France Strategic Partnership

In Paris, Jaishankar is scheduled to meet with senior French leadership and hold talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. Discussions are expected to Centre on progress under the India-France Strategic Partnership, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest including security, economy and cooperation frameworks.

Addressing the French Ambassadors’ Conference

As part of his engagements in France, Jaishankar will serve as Guest of Honour at the 31st edition of the French Ambassadors’ Conference, where he will highlight India’s perspectives on global diplomacy and international cooperation.

Engagements in Luxembourg

Following his meetings in France, the External Affairs Minister will travel to Luxembourg, where he is expected to hold high-level talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel and other senior officials. The focus will be on enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas like trade, investment, and cultural ties, and strengthening India’s relations with Luxembourg.

Interaction With Indian Community

While in Luxembourg, Jaishankar is also slated to interact with members of the Indian community, emphasizing people-to-people ties and engaging with the diaspora.
