Jalandhar: Accident due to dense fog; car falls into pit

Late at night, a car fell into a pit dug for an incomplete bridge on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road in Khurdpur village of Jalandhar district due to dense fog. The car was damaged in the accident. Fortunately, the driver survived. The car driver sustained minor injuries. He works for a private company in Hoshiarpur and was returning home to Ramamandi when the accident occurred.

According to reports, the bridge construction in Khurdpur village has been incomplete for several years. Pits have been dug in the middle of the road for the bridge’s pillars, and iron reinforcement bars have been installed in them. Due to the dense fog late at night, the car driver could not see the pit, and the car fell directly into it.

Driver survived due to low speed

Eyewitnesses said the car driver was rescued and sustained only minor injuries. They said the driver works for a private company in Hoshiarpur and uses this road daily. However, due to the fog, he couldn’t see the pit until it was too late.

He said that due to the fog, the car’s speed was very low. Despite this, the car overturned. People present at the scene pulled the driver out of the car. They said that if the car had been going faster, the driver could have lost his life.
