Jalandhar ANTF nabs Smuggler with over 1 kg of Heroin; interrogation underway

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Punjab Police has achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against drugs. The Jalandhar Range of the ANTF has arrested a drug peddler and recovered 1.036 kilograms of heroin. The accused confessed that a desire to get rich quickly drove him into this illicit trade.

The accused is a 10th-grade pass-out and works as a plumber by profession. The arrested peddler has been identified as Harvinder Singh, alias Gindi, a resident of Village Vehran, located under the jurisdiction of the Mehatpur Police Station in Jalandhar.

The ANTF team apprehended him near Bedi Chugath House, situated near the Beetle Adda village on the Sidhwan Bet-Mehatpur road. The ANTF team stated that this operation was conducted under the directives of ADGP Nilabh Kishore and was led by Jagjit Singh Saroa and Bikramjit Singh.

Accused Confesses: Joined Smuggling for Higher Earnings
AIG Jagjit Singh Saroa revealed that the accused made several significant disclosures during interrogation. The accused is a 10th-grade pass-out and works as a plumber. During questioning, he admitted that a desire for quick riches—coupled with the lure of high earnings in the drug smuggling trade—pushed him into this illegal business.

Interrogation of Accused Continues
In connection with this case, ASI Manjit Singh has registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the ANTF Police Station in Mohali. Currently, the police are continuing to interrogate the accused in an effort to identify other individuals linked to this drug network.
