DC orders ban on meat, liquor sales during Valmiki Jayanti celebrations in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: On the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, DC Dr Himanshu Agarwal has issued orders to ban the sale of meat and liquor near the Shobha Yatra route and religious event venues in the city on October 6 and 7.

The purpose of this order is to maintain a peaceful and dignified religious atmosphere during the Prakat Utsav. During these two days, processions and religious events will be held at various locations in Jalandhar city, in which a large number of devotees will participate.

Afternoon holiday in schools and colleges

In this connection, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has made another important announcement. In view of the Shobha Yatra on October 6th, all government and private schools, colleges, and ITI institutes within the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation limits will be closed after 2 pm. The administration says this decision has been taken to respect public sentiment and maintain smooth traffic flow.
