Jalandhar CIA arrests accused with Five Pistols; Weapons sourced from UP

In Jalandhar, the CIA staff arrested an arms supplier and recovered five pistols from his possession. The accused has been identified as Suraj, a resident of Shahkot. The police have registered a case against him under the Arms Act and have initiated an investigation.

Acting on a tip-off, the police apprehended the accused, Suraj, in the vicinity of Patara village. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused used to procure weapons from Uttar Pradesh and supply them to the surrounding areas. The police produced him in court and obtained his remand to facilitate further interrogation.

Supplying to Various Parts of Punjab

SSP Harvinder Singh Virk stated that the CIA Staff had received intelligence indicating that Suraj—alias Ladi—of Shahkot, in collusion with his associates, was procuring weapons from Uttar Pradesh and supplying them to various parts of Punjab. Information was received that he was currently moving around in the Patara village area. Subsequently, a team from the CIA Staff formulated a plan to apprehend him.

Five Pistols Found in a Bag

When the police attempted to intercept the accused near Johal Gate, he tried to flee on his motorcycle. The police managed to stop him and searched the bag slung over his shoulder, from which five pistols were recovered.

Police Searching for Second Accused

During interrogation, Suraj revealed that he, along with his associate Davinder Pal—alias Deepu—used to procure consignments of weapons from Uttar Pradesh and distribute them across different parts of Punjab. Following the interrogation, the police have also named Davinder Pal as an accused in the case; while raids are being conducted to locate him, he currently remains at large.

Police investigations have also revealed that three separate cases are already registered against each of the two accused across various police stations.
