Jalandhar: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will be visiting Jalandhar today. During this time, he will participate in the Startup Punjab Conclave, which will be attended by many prominent businessmen and industrialists from the state. At the conclave, he is expected to announce new startups and investments for the youth. The Punjab government has already launched the Startup App to encourage youth to pursue business. This app provides young people with easy installments and low-interest loans to start new businesses. The conclave will be held at Lovely University in Phagwara at 12 noon.
Punjab government has taken several measures for startups
500 Crore Punjab Startup Fund: The government announced a special fund of 500 crore rupees for emerging entrepreneurs in the state. This fund will primarily focus on agri-tech and manufacturing startups.
Easy Business Portal: A single-window digital portal was launched to save entrepreneurs from government paperwork. Startup registration and subsidy funds are now transferred directly to bank accounts.
Special quota for women entrepreneurs: The Chief Minister announced that 25% of the startup fund will be reserved exclusively for startups started by women entrepreneurs.
Machine Learning and AI Hub: A plan was presented to develop Mohali as North India’s largest AI and robotics hub. Previous conclaves have discussed the potential of transforming agriculture into a high-tech business. A goal was set to produce at least five new unicorns from Punjab by the end of 2026.
