Illicit Affair, Abuse and Debt Allegations: Jalandhar Doctor found dead, husband’s objectionable video surfaces

An objectionable video of Dr. Piyush husband of Dr. Meenakshi, who was found dead, has surfaced. Dr. Piyush is associated with the National Eye Hospital in Jalandhar. The video shows him sharing a kiss with a nurse from the hospital.

Dr. Meenakshi’s family claims she had seen this video. Although she had confronted him and demanded he stop such behavior, he did not desist. Her husband had also secretly taken out a loan of ₹2.5 crore in Dr. Meenakshi’s name.

I want to divorce 

Meenakshi’s father, Pramod, stated that when she asked to have her name removed from the loan, Piyush pressured her to hand over her jewelry from the locker. She had called him, saying, “Papa, a fraud has been committed against me; a loan of ₹2.5 crore was taken in my name. I want to divorce him.”

Meenakshi, a native of Jalalabad, Punjab, married Dr. Piyush of Jalandhar in October 2018. The couple had no children even after seven years of marriage. Dr. Meenakshi held an MS degree and worked at a government hospital in Kapurthala.

Body found in bedroom 

On Wednesday, Dr. Meenakshi’s body was found in the bedroom of her home. Her family suspected foul play, alleging murder, and a complaint has been filed at the Jalandhar Division-6 police station.

Her mother stated, “While it is currently being termed a suicide, we do not know for certain if she took her own life or was murdered. The true cause will only be revealed after the post-mortem. Piyush had taken loans in my daughter’s name—some against a vehicle and others in the name of the hospital.”

Room locked from inside; police broke windows to retrieve the body

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) from the Division-6 police station reported receiving information on Wednesday morning that Dr. Meenakshi had collapsed inside her room. Upon arrival, the police found the room locked from the inside. Locals were summoned, and in their presence, the windowpanes were broken to gain entry and unlatch the door. Dr. Meenakshi was found lying on the floor inside. She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Affair with a nurse

Her father stated that his son-in-law was having an illicit relationship with a woman who worked at the same hospital. When his daughter became suspicious, she checked the hospital’s CCTV footage, which confirmed Piyush’s relationship with the woman. This footage has also been handed over to the police.

Her father alleged that Dr. Piyush used to beat his daughter. As a father, he had wanted to ensure his daughter’s marriage succeeded at all costs. Piyush had previously attempted to strangle Meenakshi as well.
