Jalandhar: Drug addict father kills his own 5-year-old daughter

In Jalandhar’s Doordarshan Enclave, a drug-addicted father brutally murdered his own 5-year-old daughter. The accused father was so enraged by the child’s crying that he first slammed her to the ground, and when that wasn’t enough, he strangled her to death. The police have arrested the accused, and the court has sent him on a two-day remand.

The incident took place in Jalandhar’s Doordarshan Enclave. The accused has been identified as Arvinder Singh, a native of Chhattisgarh who worked as a daily wage laborer. According to reports, Arvinder was addicted to drugs and frequently caused trouble at home.

On the day of the incident, February 3rd, the innocent Niharika’s mother had gone to work. Arvinder was drinking alcohol at home, and Niharika was with him. Around 2:30 PM, Niharika started crying loudly because she was hungry.

Anger overpowered innocence

The intoxicated Arvinder could not tolerate the child’s crying. He first tried to silence her by forcing alcohol into her mouth. When she cried even more, he crossed all limits of cruelty. He picked up the child and repeatedly slammed her to the ground.

Even after sustaining serious injuries, when the child’s sobs did not stop, the accused strangled her with his own hands. Little Niharika died on the spot.

Mother devastated by grief

When Niharika’s mother returned home from work in the evening, she was devastated to find the body of her only child. Based on a complaint filed by the child’s uncle, Himmat Kumar, the police took immediate action. The police investigation revealed that the family’s financial situation was extremely poor, and Arvinder’s drug addiction had ruined this once happy family.
