Obscene Video of 19-year-old Viral: Punjab Women Commission take suo moto congnizance

The case of drugging and raping a 19-year-old girl from Jalandhar and making an obscene video has gained momentum. The Punjab State Women Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of this incident and has demanded strict action.

Women Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill said – The incident that happened with the girl is very shameful, and the culprits should not be spared under any circumstances. The Commission has sought a report from the concerned officials and the police in this matter. The police will have to submit a report of the entire case as soon as possible.

Video goes viral on social media

It is being alleged that the 19-year-old victim was first drugged and then raped, and the video was made by her fiancé. This video was later made viral on social media, due to which the victim and her family are mentally distressed.

The Commission has asked the police and the administration why timely action was not taken despite such a serious incident. The Commission has made it clear that if the police do not take immediate, strict action in this matter, the Commission itself will intervene further.

The Punjab Women’s Commission has ordered the police administration to submit a detailed report of the action taken in the case to the Commission by August 22, 2025. The Commission has said that it is their priority to get justice to the victim and the culprits should be arrested soon.
