Girl found dead in neighbour’s bathroom in Jalandhar; Family alleges rape and murder

Jalandhar: A minor girl’s body was found in a neighbour’s bathroom in Jalandhar’s Basti Bawa Khel police station area, triggering a ruckus. The family alleged that she was raped and then murdered. After the body was found, family members and local residents staged a strong protest, which continued till 1 pm.

The girl had gone for an evening walk and did not return till nightfall.

According to the family, the girl was at home the whole day. She had gone out for a walk in the evening but did not return till nightfall. When she did not return, the family started searching for her and checked the CCTV footage of the area, in which she was seen going to a neighbour’s house.

Body found in bathroom, doctors declared her dead at the hospital

When the family reached the neighbour’s house and opened the bathroom door, they found the girl lying unconscious inside. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The news created a ruckus.

One accused in custody, family demands strict action

On receiving information, Basti Bawa Khel police station reached the spot, recorded the statements of the family members, and took one accused into custody. The family and local residents have demanded strictest action from the police.

Father of girl has already died one year ago

The girl’s father had passed away a year ago. The incident deeply saddened her mother and brother. The mother fainted after seeing her daughter’s body.

Angry mob beats up house owner and vandalizes vehicles

After the incident, a large number of people gathered in the area. The angry mob beat up the house owner and vandalized several parked vehicles. The atmosphere became tense.

Senior officers reached the spot, pacified the crowd

Several senior officers including SHO, DSP and SDM reached the spot and tried to pacify the crowd. Police officials assured that a fair investigation into the matter would be conducted.
