Jalandhar Traffic Diversion Plan for Guru Ravidas Jayanti’s Religious Procession Ahead of PM Modi Visit

Jalandhar: Preparations have begun in Jalandhar for Shri Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Organizers are busy decorating the city for the procession starting from Boota Mandi and the three-day fair.

PM Modi to Visit Jalandhar During Celebrations

In view of the procession and Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Jalandhar, the traffic police have issued a route diversion plan. PM Modi will land via helicopter from Adampur Airport at 4 pm on February 1st at the helipad being constructed at DAV University and from there, he will go to pay obeisance at Dera Sachkhand Ballan.

Heavy Vehicle Ban and School Holiday Announced

The traffic police have banned the entry of heavy vehicles into the city on January 31st. The administration has also declared a school holiday. Traffic will be diverted on the city’s main roads on January 31st, and some routes will be completely closed. Heavy vehicles will also be prohibited from entering the city.

Procession Route From Boota Mandi

The procession to be taken out on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti will start from Boota Mandi Gurudwara Sahib. It will pass through various places via Shri Guru Ravidas Chowk, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk (Nakodar Chowk), Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk (Jyoti Chowk) and Patel Chowk and will end back at Gurudwara Sahib Boota Mandi. 

Which roads to take during the procession

Traffic route diversion plan will be applicable till February 1. The traffic police has issued a route plan to save people from inconvenience. This plan will be effective from 9 am to 8 pm on January 31. However, traffic will remain completely closed on some specific routes from January 31 to February 1.

Alternate Route for Vehicles From Kapurthala

An alternative route has been decided for vehicles coming from Kapurthala. These vehicles will be able to enter or exit the city from Kapurthala Chowk via Workshop Chowk, Maksudan Chowk, Bhagat Singh Colony, Pathankot Chowk, Chaugitti Chowk, PAP Chowk via BSF Chowk.

Roads Closed Due to Crowds

Due to the procession, traffic will remain closed from January 31 to February 1 at Pratappura Mor, Wadala Chowk, Shri Guru Ravidas Chowk (near Ghai Hospital), Tilak Nagar Road (near Wadala Pind Bagh), Batapind Mor (near Charamandi), Mainbon Chowk, Jaggu Chowk, Mata Rani Chowk, Babarik Chowk, Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan Mor (Nakodar Road), T-Point Khalsa School (Nakodar Road), Nakodar Chowk, Guru Amardas Chowk and Samra Chowk.

Nakodar-Shahkot Vehicles to Take Alternate Route

All vehicles and passenger buses from Jalandhar city bound for Nakodar-Shahkot will use the Satluj Chowk, Samra Chowk, Kul Road, Traffic Signal Lights, Urban Estate Phase 2-CT Institute via Pind Pratappura-Nakodar route. Wadala Chowk via Shri Guru Ravidas Chowk and Nakodar Chowk Road will remain completely closed for all types of vehicles.
