Jalandhar Highway Accident: 3 Youths Killed After Bike Crashes Into Truck, Motorcycle Wedged 10 Feet Under

Jalandhar: Three young men were killed after their motorcycle crashed into the rear of a truck on the Jalandhar-Delhi National Highway near the Goraya overbridge in the early hours of the morning. The impact was so severe that the Splendor motorcycle became wedged around 10 feet underneath the truck.

The accident took place at around 3:30 am when the three youths were travelling on a single motorcycle from Jalandhar towards Ludhiana. The motorcycle collided with the rear of a mail/parcel truck travelling in the same direction.

All three youths suffered fatal injuries. They were rushed to Phillaur Hospital in a 108 ambulance, where doctors declared them dead.

Motorcycle gets wedged 10 feet under truck

The collision was so powerful that the motorcycle became deeply lodged underneath the rear of the parcel truck. According to people present at the spot, the motorcycle was dragged around 10 feet beneath the truck.

Considerable effort was required to remove the motorcycle. A Hydra crane was eventually used to move the truck and extract the damaged motorcycle.

The three youths were found lying on the road after the crash. The Road Safety Force (SSF) team reached the spot after receiving information about the accident through the 112 control room.

An SSF official said that when the team arrived, the motorcycle was trapped beneath the parcel truck and the three youths were lying on the road. The victims were immediately shifted to the hospital, where doctors declared all three dead.

Bodies sent to Phillaur Civil Hospital

Goraya police were informed about the accident. In the presence of the police, the bodies were sent to the Civil Hospital in Phillaur.

After the motorcycle and truck were removed from the highway, traffic movement was restored.

Police said the exact circumstances leading to the collision have not yet been established. A preliminary possibility being examined is that the truck may have braked suddenly, leaving the motorcycle rider unable to stop in time.

The truck driver was not found at the scene after the accident and reportedly fled. Police are searching for the driver.

Two victims identified, police trace third

According to preliminary police information, the motorcycle bears registration number PB-10KB-1280, issued by the Ludhiana RTO.

Police said the three youths are suspected to have been living in Ludhiana and working in a factory. They were reportedly originally from Uttar Pradesh.

Two of the deceased have been identified as Sahil, son of Jaikaran, and Jitendra Kumar, son of Hari Nandan, both residents of Radhaswami Road in Ludhiana. The identity of the third victim has not yet been established.

Police said no identity cards were found in the pockets of the deceased. However, three mobile phones were recovered from the scene. The phones have been handed over to the investigating officer, ASI Bawa Singh, and police are trying to contact the victims’ families through the devices.

The parcel truck involved in the accident reportedly has a Maharashtra registration number. Both the truck and motorcycle were travelling from Jalandhar towards Ludhiana.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and trace the truck driver.
