Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi meets victim’s family; warns of massive protest if action not taken

Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi met the victim’s family in the alleged rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in Jalandhar’s Paras Estate late Monday evening and leveled serious allegations against the police of trying to suppress the case.

Massive Protest if no action against Police personnel

He warned that if strict action is not taken against the accused police personnel within two to three days, a massive protest will be held in Jalandhar with the support of the Congress party and the city residents, including road blockades and market closures. Punjab Police CP Dhanpreet Kaur will be responsible for this.

He warned that if the Punjab DGP and CP want to maintain peace in Jalandhar, they should take immediate action against the accused police personnel.

Channi demanded that the Punjab DGP and Jalandhar CP immediately dismiss the police personnel who allegedly tried to suppress the case and register an FIR against them. He made it clear that if this action is not taken, Jalandhar will be shut down, roads will be blocked and large-scale protests will be held. Channi has said that Jalandhar CP Dhanpreet Kaur will be held accountable.

Big accusation against Police by family

According to the family, the police stayed inside the house for about four hours, and after spending about 45 minutes in the room, they came out and said that the girl was not there, although the girl’s mother had seen in the CCTV that her daughter had gone to the same house and did not come out.

The family alleges that the police threatened them and pressured them to close the case, saying that they should not interfere in the work of the police. The FIR was registered only after strong opposition from family members and local residents following the protests.

Targeting the state government, he said that the government has failed. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann can only run the stage, not the state. Ever since the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power in Punjab, hooliganism has increased openly. Criminals and gangsters are openly threatening people.

The people of Punjab are living in an atmosphere of fear. Channi warned that if concrete action is not taken within 2-3 days, then major demonstrations, road blockades, market closures and protests are possible across the state.
