Jalandhar: Oil Tankers catch fire in Suchipind: Two gutted

A fire broke out in two oil tankers parked near the Indian Oil Depot located in Suchi Pind, Jalandhar. Fueled by strong winds, the fire spread rapidly, sending plumes of smoke visible from a considerable distance. Upon receiving the alert, five fire tenders rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control.

Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this incident, though both tankers were reduced to ashes.

Raju, a tanker driver hailing from Gurdaspur, stated that he had parked his tanker in the parking area adjacent to the Indian Oil Depot. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated in one of the parked tankers due to a short circuit; subsequently, strong winds caused the flames to engulf Raju’s tanker as well. This incident triggered panic and chaos among the people present in the parking area.

Fire Brigade official Lucky informed that they had received a report from the control room regarding a fire involving tankers near the Indian Oil Depot. His team immediately reached the site and, utilizing five fire tenders, successfully extinguished the fire.

He noted that, based on preliminary inquiries, a short circuit appears to be the cause of the blaze. The official added that the fire was brought under control in a timely manner, thereby averting a major disaster and ensuring that there was no loss of life.
