Jalandhar Police Arrest Woman Accomplice in Fake Degree Scam

Jalandhar police have taken major action in the fake degree and certificate scam, arresting Dr. Pushkar Goyal’s female partner, Monica.

Monica had been on the run for a long time. Police raided Dr. Pushkar Goyal’s residence in Urban Estate in August this year and arrested him.

Police recovered dozens of fake certificates, university degrees, and illicit liquor from him.

Gang Sold Fake Degrees to Youth Seeking to Go Abroad

The investigation revealed that this entire gang sold fake degrees to young people seeking to travel abroad through travel agents. These degrees were cleverly crafted to appear genuine.

Police investigations also revealed that Monica, a resident of the Chaugitti area of Jalandhar, contacted divorced and needy women through online marriage apps.

They used to sell fake degrees in connivance with travel agents.

Recruiting Women and Luring Youth Through Travel Agents

She would recruit them into her network. Dr. Pushkar Goyal and Monica then lured young people through travel agents with the promise of cheap, authentic-looking fake degrees. According to police, the gang’s network spanned several states, including Punjab.

The search is on for more people involved in this scam. Jalandhar police are currently questioning Monica to try to track down the remaining members of the gang.

Over 1,500 Fake Certificates Sold Across States

It was revealed that more than 1,500 fake certificates were sold.

The police, who uncovered the fake degree scam in Jalandhar, are now uncovering new secrets. Dr. Pushkar Goyal, who was arrested with fake degrees and claims to be an Ayurvedic doctor, is originally from Barnala.

He opened an Ayurvedic clinic in Barnala, but his financial situation deteriorated due to business failure and losses in the stock exchange.

Dr. Goyal Charged Rs 30,000–50,000 Per Fake Certificate

During the COVID-19 lockdown, he fell into heavy debt. During this time, he met a gang that manufactured fake degrees, and he himself entered the business.

Dr. Goyal admitted that he had connections with major universities across the country, including those in Charu, Baddi, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Ahmedabad.

He used to charge Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 for a fake certificate and has sold more than 1,500 fake degrees and certificates so far.

Operation Base in Jalandhar and Arrest of Monica

Dr. Goyal admitted that due to financial difficulties, he moved to Fattu Dhinga in Kapurthala, where he met the gang. He then opened an office in Golden Avenue Phase 2, Jalandhar, with his wife Rajni, from where the entire network operated.

Previously, in August 2025, Jalandhar police raided his hideout in Urban Estate and arrested him. Police recovered dozens of fake university degrees, certificates, and illegal alcohol from there.

His female accomplice, Monica, who had been on the run for some time, was recently arrested in connection with the same case.
