Jalandhar Scrapyard Blast in Santokpura: 1 Dead, 2 Injured

Jalandhar: A powerful blast took place in a scrapyard in the city’s Santokpura area. One person died and two others were seriously injured. The sound of the blast shattered the windows of nearby houses. Locals said the blast was heard up to a kilometre away.

Police investigating
On receiving information about the incident, the police of Station 8 reached the spot and started an investigation. The deceased has been identified as Rajinder (Santokpura).

Cause of the blast unknown
Locals claim that the blast took place in a cylinder, while others believe that a grenade stored in the scrapyard may have exploded.

Statements from aspirants
Jogi, a resident of Kishanpura, said that he was passing by when the blast suddenly occurred. He said, “The blast was so powerful that it felt like a bomb had exploded.”

The injured were admitted to the hospital.

The injured were immediately taken to the civil hospital. Locals reported that the blast was so powerful that the walls of nearby houses shook. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the incident.
