4 Snatchers, Including Minor, Arrested in Jalandhar; 2 Bikes, Phones and Narcotic Pills Recovered

Jalandhar: The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has arrested four accused, including a minor, in connection with a snatching case near Bhagat Singh Colony.

The accused allegedly snatched a mobile phone from a man after threatening him with a sharp-edged weapon (daatar). Police recovered two motorcycles, two mobile phones and 30 narcotic pills from the accused.

Mobile Phone Snatched at Knifepoint

The incident took place around 2:16 p.m. on August 14. The complainant, Prince Kumar of New Anand Nagar, Jalandhar, had parked his WagonR near a petrol pump on the Bhagat Singh Colony bypass to get a tyre changed.

While he was walking towards his home, four youths on a Splendor motorcycle allegedly surrounded him near Baba Balak Nath Turn. They threatened him with a daatar, snatched his sky-blue Oppo mobile phone and fled.

On the complainant’s statement, Police Station Division No. 1 registered FIR No. 261 under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on August 14 and launched an investigation.

Accused Nabbed at Police Checkpoint

Acting on the directions of Jalandhar Police Commissioner Satinder Singh and under the supervision of senior officers, teams of the CIA staff and Police Station Division No. 1 launched a special operation.

On August 15, a police team led by ASI Kulwinder Singh and ASI Gurjit Singh set up a checkpoint near the Kalia Colony canal bridge. Three accused attempting to flee on motorcycle number PB 08 FU 2053 were apprehended.

The arrested accused were identified as Suhail Khan of Lamba Pind, Jalandhar, originally from Bihar; Abhishek alias Ganja of Sangla Sohal Colony; and Rishabh Yadav of Viriyana, Jalandhar.

A minor was also apprehended in connection with the case.

During interrogation and searches, police recovered the complainant’s snatched Oppo mobile phone and another blue AT&T mobile phone. Thirty narcotic pills were also recovered from a transparent packet concealed in the motorcycle.

Further investigation into the gang and their involvement in other crimes is underway.
