Jalandhar: Uproar over the wife of the accused in the child murder case

Jalandhar: The atmosphere in Jalandhar’s Paras Estate became tense late Thursday night over the murder of a 14-year-old girl. When the wife of the accused, Harminder Singh alias Rimpi, arrived to retrieve belongings from the locked house, local residents and the victim’s family began protesting. Police from Basti Bawa Khel police station arrived at the scene upon receiving information.

Woman accused of making controversial statement
People present at the scene alleged that the woman said, “It’s good that the child died,” which further escalated the situation. People surrounded the police vehicle and accused SHO Jai Inder of trying to run over them with the vehicle and abusing them. During the incident, a dog was also hit and killed by the vehicle.

    Police clarified
According to the SHO, the keys to the house were to be handed over to the accused’s family on High Court orders. Under this, the woman was allowed inside for a limited time to retrieve essential items. Police stated that the entire case is being investigated and action will be taken if the culprit is found.

The murder incident created a sensation
On November 23, 2025, a minor girl in Paras Estate went to a neighbor’s house to meet her friend. There, the accused attempted to rape her and strangled her to death when she resisted.
