Jammu & Kashmir: 3 kg of heroin dropped via drone seized by security forces

As the people of Jammu and Kashmir became aware and began saying “no” to drugs, Pakistan and the terrorist organizations it fosters grew restless. As part of a conspiracy to sabotage the anti-drug campaign, Pakistan once again attempted to push three kilograms of heroin into Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces intercepted and recovered the consignment near the International Border in the Arnia sector (Jammu) before it could fall into the hands of smugglers. The consignment had been dropped via a drone. This marks the largest recovery of its kind in this sector.

For the past few days, intelligence inputs regarding drone activity had been received in the Arnia sector. Consequently, the BSF and the police were already on high alert. SP (Headquarters) Anna Lata Sinha stated that Darshan Lal, a farmer residing in Bahadurpur village, had gone to his fields on Wednesday morning.

There, he spotted a yellow-colored bag. He immediately alerted the BSF and the police. The bag was taken into custody, and shortly thereafter, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team arrived at the scene. Upon opening the bag, five packets were discovered, which were found to contain three kilograms of heroin.

Drugs and Weapons Recovered in Two Bags Near LoC in Poonch
On Wednesday late evening, drugs and weapons were recovered from two bags found near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mendhar area. The bags contained food supplies, a Chinese pistol, and a magazine. According to sources, the recovered items are currently in the custody of the Army. Investigations are underway to determine whether terrorists have attempted to infiltrate the area. This incident may also be linked to “narco-terrorism.” No official information has yet been released regarding the specific type or quantity of narcotics found in the bags.

Meanwhile, security forces have recovered weapons and ammunition from the forests of Sahgund in the Bandipora district. Official sources stated that, acting on specific intelligence inputs, the 45th Battalion of the CRPF, QAT-45, SOG Hajin, SOG Sumbal, and the Army’s 13 Rashtriya Rifles conducted a joint operation in the area. During a search operation, a Chinese grenade, two UBGL rounds, 60 cartridges for an AK-series weapon, ammunition, and two assault rifle magazines were recovered from a hideout.
