Patna, Bihar: A major violent incident unfolded in Mokama, Bihar, just days before the Bihar Assembly elections, creating a wave of tension and outrage across the region.

On Thursday, the convoy of Jan Suraj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi, also known as Lallu Mukhiya, was brutally attacked in Ghoswari, leading to the tragic death of his uncle and close supporter, Dularchand Yadav.

The attack is being blamed on supporters of NDA candidate Anant Singh, who were reportedly traveling in a convoy ahead of Priyadarshi’s vehicles when the confrontation occurred.

Eyewitness Accounts Describe Chaos and Violence

According to police sources and eyewitness accounts, the convoy of Piyush Priyadarshi was following behind Anant Singh’s vehicle when, all of a sudden, Singh’s supporters emerged from their vehicles and began attacking. Eyewitnesses said that as the two convoys passed each other, Anant Singh’s men started pelting stones and assaulting Priyadarshi’s convoy with sticks and rods.

The attack caused chaos, with multiple vehicles in the convoy being vandalized and their windows shattered. One eyewitness recounted that they were traveling about ten vehicles behind Priyadarshi when the assault began.

In the midst of the violence, Dularchand Yadav stepped out of his vehicle, reportedly to protect Piyush Priyadarshi, but was shot and fatally wounded. He succumbed to his injuries soon after the attack.

Victim’s Background and Political Influence

Local residents said that Dularchand Yadav was once a close associate of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and had significant influence in the Mokama region. In recent times, he had extended his support to Piyush Priyadarshi of the Jan Suraj Party.

Just four days before the incident, Dularchand had even sung a campaign song in support of Priyadarshi, expressing his faith in his leadership. His death has deeply shaken the Jan Suraj Party and the local community.

Police Response and Investigation

Following the incident, senior police officials, including ASP Flood, the Rural SP, and the SSP, rushed to the scene along with heavy police deployment to control the escalating situation. The area remains tense, and reports suggest that several suspects have been detained for questioning.

Police sources confirmed that they are investigating the sequence of events and verifying the allegations made against Anant Singh and his supporters.
