Mumbai: Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh. She said that ignoring such barbaric acts is against humanity.

Janhvi shared a lengthy note on her Instagram story on Thursday, expressing her outrage over the incident.

She wrote:
“Dipu Chandra Das… What is happening in Bangladesh is barbaric. This is not an isolated incident. If you don’t know about this inhuman mob violence, read about it, watch videos, and ask questions. And if you still don’t feel anger, this hypocrisy will destroy us in time.”

The mob lynching of Deepu Chandra Das has renewed concerns about rising mob violence in South Asia.

Last week, he was beaten by a mob based on allegations, tied to a tree, and set on fire. Videos of the incident surfaced on social media, sparking widespread outrage.

Police have launched an investigation and vowed to take strict action against the perpetrators.

‘Bigotry and communalism in all its forms must be strongly condemned’

Janhavi further wrote:
“Communal discrimination and bigotry in any form—whether we are victims or perpetrators—must be condemned. We must stand up with knowledge and awareness so that innocent lives are not lost.”

She appealed to people that remaining silent on such cases is a shirking of one’s duty, and that society must unite and speak out against hatred and violence.
