Education Minister’s Resignation Demanded as Protest Continues for Second Day at Jantar Mantar

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest against the NEET paper leak continues for the second day on Sunday at Jantar Mantar. The protesters sat at Jantar Mantar overnight demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

CJP founder Abhijit Deepke and his supporters have been standing at Jantar Mantar since Saturday night. They are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The Delhi Police had asked to vacate the place saying that the permission for the demonstration would expire after 5 pm on Saturday. Despite this, the protesters sat at Jantar Mantar throughout the night.

Deepak appealed to the people to support the movement. He also appealed to the students who took the NEET re-exam to join the protest after the exam.

Earlier on Saturday, social activist Sonam Wangchuk also joined the protest. He said that if Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign, he will start his fast from June 27.

Complaints about water and light

Abhijeet alleged that there was no water in the toilets at Jantar Mantar on Saturday night. He wrote on X, “I appeal to the authorities not to stop the water in the toilets of the Jantar Mantar protest site. There has been no water in public toilets since Saturday night. The protesters also said that the lights were switched off for some time at night, making it difficult to reach the toilets.

Hundreds of supporters reached Jantar Mantar on Saturday and demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan by banging plates and spoons. Deepke has also demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the students who committed suicide after the NEET paper leak and the cancellation of the exam.

15 students commit suicide in 39 days

In the last 39 days in the country, 15 students associated with the NEET exam have committed suicide. On Saturday, 19-year-old NEET candidate Sheikh Sana committed suicide in Hyderabad. A suicide note has been found from the spot. Police believe she was under exam pressure. Sana was scheduled to appear in the NEET re-exam to be held today.

CJP formed after CJI’s remarks, called youth cockroaches

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) started after a comment by Chief Justice Surya Kant. During the hearing of a case on May 15, he had said that some unemployed youth are like cockroaches, who later attack the system by becoming media, social media or RTI activists.

The day after this remark, on May 16, Abhijit Deepke, who is living in the US, started the CJP and created party accounts on social media. On May 22, he started an online petition demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which claimed to have the support of over 8 lakh people.

As of June 10, CJP had 2.27 crore followers on Instagram. Now it has dropped by two lakh. Still, this number is more than the BJP’s 94 lakh and the Congress’s 1.37 crore followers. CJP has 2.79 lakh followers on X.
