Akali Dal (United) Leader Jaswant Singh Cheema Shot At in Doraha, Escapes Unhurt

Ludhiana: Senior Akali Dal (United) leader Jaswant Singh Cheema was shot in Doraha, Ludhiana. The incident occurred while Cheema was returning to Doraha from Ludhiana in his Innova car. The attackers chased the Akali leader’s car and opened fire near the Doraha Gurthali Bridge.

The bullet fired by the attackers struck Jaswant Singh Cheema’s car window. Cheema did not stop the car after the shot was fired. He drove straight to the Doraha police station and reported the incident to the Doraha police station.

According to reports, two unidentified men on a motorcycle tried to stop his vehicle near the Gurthali Bridge in Doraha. Due to the darkness, Cheema became suspicious of the suspects and instead drove on.

Meanwhile, unknown assailants opened fire on his car. The bullet struck the Innova’s window. Fortunately, Jaswant Singh Cheema was unharmed.

Questions raised on law and order

Upon receiving information about the incident, Sandeep Singh Rupalo, a spokesperson for the Akali Dal (United) Punjab, also reached the Doraha police station. He submitted a written complaint to the police, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and questioning the law and order situation.

CCTV footage is being scanned to identify the attackers.

Doraha Police Station SHO Akash Dutt stated that the police are investigating the case from every angle. Footage from CCTV cameras installed around the scene is being examined, and efforts are being made to identify the unidentified suspects. The SHO assured that the case will be solved soon.
