Jaundice spread in Ferozepur: 12-year-old girl dies, 15 others affected

Jaundice has wreaked havoc in Hazara Singh Wala village of Ferozepur district of Punjab. Children and the elderly are falling victim to this disease. According to information, 12 children and three other youths have been diagnosed with jaundice. Out of these, the condition of 6 children is critical, and they have been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Ferozepur.

It is being said that the girl, Sejal Rani, was a student of a government school in the village. The villagers say that the problem of drinking water has been going on for a long time, due to which the children are complaining of fever, stomach ache, headache, and pain in the eyes.

The health department has come into action, and samples are being taken

Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the health department has taken action. Different teams are reaching the village, collecting blood samples from children, women and the elderly, and giving medicines. Apart from this, samples of food and drinking water sold in the village shops are also being taken.

Now 15 people have been diagnosed with the disease: Medical Officer

Medical Officer Rekha Bhatti said that the teams of the health department have been working continuously in the village since last Monday. So far, 15 people, including 12 children, have been diagnosed with jaundice. As the condition of six children is serious, they have been admitted to the Civil Hospital Ferozepur. She said that the exact cause of the disease will be known only after the sample reports come.
