Attack on Jawan at Derabassi bus stand; wife-daughter also injured

A case of a youth attacking an army jawan with a metal Kada has come to light near the Derabassi bus stand. The jawan’s wife and two-year-old daughter were also present during the attack. The jawan was seriously injured in the incident, while his wife and daughter also suffered injuries.

The injured jawan has been identified as 32-year-old S. Krishna Reddy, a resident of Ganjam, Odisha and posted as a constable in the Army’s Ayush Depot in Dapar. He has been immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital, Derabassi.

According to the complaint, a car with a Punjab number plate surrounded them at around 6 pm. After getting out of the car, a youth first abused him and then hit him on the head and forehead with a kada. The canteen card shown by the jawan for identification was also snatched by the accused. The attacker fled from the spot after threatening to kill him.

The wife, who came to intervene, was also beaten up by a woman sitting in the car, due to which the mother and daughter also suffered injuries.

Derabassi police station has registered a case under various sections and arrested the accused, Sukhpreet Singh, a resident of Bhankharpur.
